Happy Easter

We have something that’s not entirely wedding related on the blog today. Lisa O’Dwyer photographed this gorgeous shoot with a fantastic selection of Etsy Ireland sellers. Although it is an Easter shoot, some of these could certainly be used in a wedding. Just take a look:

The Final Countdown. Insp Board {035}

Yes, I know I said I wouldn’t share the board until the competition was over. But I’m an impatient soul and I can’t keep it from you any longer!
At 11:30 on Monday night I got an email from Sarah saying:

Woohoo ladies!!! You are the finalist!! For the FINAL round I’m asking that you do an inspiration board wedding themed around a NON-romantic movie! Let’s be creative with movie choice…. Braveheart, So I Married An Axe Murderer….. not the norm!! J

To say I was excited would be an understatement. But a non-romantic movie, that would take a bit of thought. As you can imagine, I’m a fan of rom-coms and classic romance films. I went through about a million films in my head: 300, Oceans 11, James Bond, The Italian Job, even for one frantic second Hitman. The boy helpfully suggested Looking For Eric (!) but I just kept coming back to Marie Antoinette

Far from romantic – she’s in an arranged, loveless, sexless marriage during which she has at least one affair, it is nonetheless beautiful. With confectionery from Laduree, shoes from Christian Louboutin  and over 65 decadent costumes for the young queen herself, it has plenty of beauty to inspire. The costume designer was given a box of Laduree macaroons as a palate to work from and I tried to stick with this as closely as possible:

The wedding dress with the record is from Barbie’s bridal collection. I kid you not. The collection is pretty much amazing and everything a kid would want in a wedding dress. I’m a little bit obsessed.
I  think I’ve managed to capture the overall feel and look of this amazing movie. If you feel the same, please make sure to vote. Voting closes at 5pm EST on Tuesday 12th April (10pm GMT.) To vote click here and like Events by Sarah Elizabeth then click her ‘Finals’ photo album and like this board.
I also want to say a big thank you to Sarah from Events by Sarah Elizabeth for hosting this competition, it’s been a lot of fun and really brought out my competitive streak!

Coral Cuteness. Insp Board {034}

When I saw this on Pinterest, I knew I had to make a board inspired by it! It’s by Mario Sierro and absolutely gorgeous!

Sources: Bride: Style Me Pretty, Cardigan: BHLDN, Dress: ASOS, Belt: BHLDN, Pump: Repetto,  Nail Polish: Nicole by OPI, Heels: Dune, Place Setting: The Knot, Box: The Knot, Benefit Perfect Eyes: ASOS, Purse: Peppermint Twist at Folksy, Floral Dress: Modcloth

If you want more coral boards, check out Sweet Kinds of Everything. She is having coral for her big day and has several boards up for it.

This is also my first time creating a board using Microsoft Publisher. How do you think it went?

The ‘Also Ran.’ Insp Board {033}

I told you yesterday about the yellow inspiration board I’ve entered into Events by Sarah Elizabeth’s March Madness competition (you have voted, right?) What I didn’t tell you is that I created two boards for it and tried to decide which I thought was best. As much as I loved the yellow umbrellas, I also thought an image of a rain-drenched flower could be cute. Which is how this happened:

I do like it, but I just didn’t think it was good enough. As you can see, I blooming love that couple! I also love that cherry blossom chuppah. The idea could very easily be adapted for a mandap or for any kind of ceremony decor.
Doesn’t the wet cherry blossom make Spring seem magical? Since this post I’ve discovered that Flicker has an open-source area, provided this image and the pink umbrella. The hydrangea gives a hint of what a perfect summer can bring.
Do you think I made the right choice? Or do you prefer the pink?
