Stalking the Prettiest of Pretties
So I had made a promise to myself not to mention Winter or the ‘C’ word until December, but being snowed in this weekend I thought it was as good a time as any. This is what our park looked like earlier today, with more to fall tonight:
But on to weddings. I’ve stuck to a fairly clean palate of white with ice blue, silver and navy. I’ve also tried to keep it as kitsch-free as possible, with only little nods to the season with pine-cones and snowflakes. With the snowy winters we have been having in the last few years, there is every possibility that you can have a winter wonderland wedding, even if you live in Ireland or the UK. You can use pom-poms in place of fresh flowers so you don’t have to worry about them getting too cold. I love the thought of providing hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate either ‘Irished up’ or alcohol free) in cups with these personalised covers. This ring pillow and these invites are the only things that actually have snowflakes on, but they help set the scene for the whole day. Keep your bridesmaids wrapped up – goosebumps and frostbite are never good looks!
I’m warning you once and only once – be sensible! You may not think a coat, umbrella or pair of wellies are the most important or prettiest additions to your wedding ensemble, but they could keep you safe, warm and flu-free! Do you really want cold, wet toes, running make-up and a red, runny nose in your pictures? I didn’t think so.
Finally, you might think it would be difficult to find suitable bouquets that don’t look too Christmassy, but these both manage to be wintery and pretty without falling back on poinsettias.
For anyone who is stuck in snow this week – enjoy it, but stay safe and wrap up warm!
