Stalking the Prettiest of Pretties
First off on the photography series is the first photoshoot you might have, the engagement shoot. Although it’s not as common in Ireland, it is gaining popularity. A quick poll on weddingsonline.ie (the most popular wedding discussion forum in Ireland) shows that a lot of photographers offer this service as part of their wedding package now and not one person said they regretted it.
Engagement shoots are a great way of getting to know your photographer and gaining some measure of confidence in front of a camera. Or at the very least, overriding some of the overwhelming awkwardness that some of us feel in front of the lens! If you are getting bad vibes now, you have plenty time to look for another photographer before the big day. At least one bride that I know has changed their photographer after winning an engagement shoot. Their experience was so good on the shoot that they cancelled their original and went with them! It will also allow the photographer to get to know you, as individuals and as a couple. They can figure out how best to shoot you and work with you.
This is also a great chance to do things you can’t do on the wedding day. You could take the theme of your wedding to a level that’s too extreme to be practical on the day itself, use it as a chance to do take pictures you thought only belonged in magazines, or even incorporate those family members that wont be at your wedding – your pets!
This week I’ve put together a set to give you a few ideas for themed or more ‘out there’ shoots . This includes diner, soccer, Hitchcock, even The Notebook inspired shoots. There’s a really cute Up inspired photo that is from one of the most adorable shoot’s I’ve seen in a while. How incredible is the underwater shot?

Next week I’ll give you a few ideas for more straight-up shoots and a quick round up of my favourites on the web. Have you had a themed shoot? Or wish you did?
